Entrepreneurial Passion and Self-Efficacy as Factors Explaining Innovative Behavior: A Mediation Model
Purpose: Dynamic and successful entrepreneurs and an enabling business environment are necessary if a company has to grow sustainably. However, research on the most important factors for entrepreneurs to be successful is still scarce. This paper analyzes the mediating effect of entrepreneurial passion - a key trait in successful entrepreneurs - on the relationship between entrepreneurial self-efficacy and innovative behavior. Design/Methodology/Approach: Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was used in a sample of 358 participants in the same number of companies. Findings: Results show that there is a significant complementary mediation effect of entrepreneurial passion on the relationship between entrepreneurial self-efficacy and innovative behavior. Practical Implications: This finding is important in order to further advance the understanding of the direct and indirect causes of entrepreneurial behavior. Originality/Value: Finally, this is especially important for understanding innovative behavior in an emerging economy with particular cultural, macro-economic and social characteristics.
